Matt Kritzer- Vietnam Veteran/Author/Poet
In April of  2002 while attending the Melbourne Vietnam Veterans Reunion I had the pleasure of meeting Matt Kritzer.

IIt happened while I was telling the story  concerning a picture I have on my wall from the Vietnam War.

We had been pinned down in a canal for quite some time. I recall telling how we were waiting for choppers and that my clothes were all torn because I had been covered with leeches. I had no idea as to the exact date of the photo. Moreover, I don't recall many of the events of that ambush.

Out of nowhere a voice said I was there. It was Matt. He provided me with  list of the KIA's and showed me the place on the map and the name of the attacking Viet Cong Batallion.

The date was July 12, 1967. For years I often wondered about that incident. For years I thought that my Company (Co A, 1st Bn, 27th Inf, 25th Division) was the only ones involved. I always felt that when we left the wire, we lelft alone. I blocked out the fact that there were other units to the left and to the right.

Thanks to Matt I have found another piece of the puzzle in my never ending search for answers to questions that haunt me from the Vietnam War.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          WILLIAM R.
